Kailee and Ty finish the race with us
It's official, Tyler and I ran our first marathon this last Saturday. It was the tenth annual top of Utah marathon. The race started up at hardware ranch and ended at Merlin Olsen park in Logan. Most of the race was downhill, which suited us just fine. There were close to 2,100 people who participated (most of whom beat us). There were people from all walks of life, and it was fun meeting some of them. My favorite part of the race was around mile 14 when Tyler had an unfortunate gas leak nearly killing the poor lady right behind him. We both giggled like school girls after that and had a hard time catching our breath for a good mile after that. It was a lot of fun seeing all of the supporters along the side cheering everybody on. That turned out to be quite a boost at times. Tracey and the kids found us around mile 21 or so, and were cheering loudly for us. They were accompanied by Tyler's wife Carrie and their two kids, Kailee and Kaden. Tracey's folks Terry and Ronda were also there along with her Grandma Shirley. Tyler and I spent the night at Tracey's sister Teralee's place. Teralee was also there cheering us on along with her husband Jon and the twins Casey and Cody. Tracey has been banned from attending other marathons as her cheering had more of a negative impact on other runners. She would cheer them on and tell them they were doing so good, but they looked to be in such pain. We all know she meant well. It was a lot of fun, and we are both glad we did it. It was a little discouraging to be passed by 70+ year olds, but we were just glad we did it even if the only records we set were for the most laughs.

Way to go Tom (and Tyler)! That's awesome! I'm glad you did it. I wish I could have been there to cheer you on as well. Next year, you can shoot for St.George and I can come watch.
Wow, what a great pic of your family! Congrats Tom, that's quite an accomplishment!
